Video Editing

Media Services offers video editing services for students doing curriculum driven video projects.

Mission

To provide quality video editing service to the ERAU Daytona Beach campus student population and clubs/organizations officially sanctioned by ERAU on the Daytona Beach campus.

Patrons

Media Services will provide video editing services to currently enrolled Daytona Beach ERAU students and ERAU clubs and organizations in good standing with the University.  Service will be available for fairly complex, long-term projects as well as first come, first served editing for students who do not require much assistance.  If Educational Technology is closed or their facilities are unavailable for any reason, we will assist faculty with quick edit projects, with the understanding that faculty with complex or long term projects will be referred to Ed Tech during their normal business hours.  Classes devoted to video editing require a studio quality environment and can not be accommodated by Media Services as this would exhaust the resources and prohibit or exclude the individual assignments.  Advisors for students working on projects for Departmental use, such as an instructional video for the Flight Department, should be referred to Educational Technology.

Service

Service will be provided one on one to individual ERAU students or representatives from ERAU sanctioned clubs or organizations.  Students with curriculum driven projects will have first priority over clubs/organizations or other projects.  The patron will sign up or make an appointment with Media Services to explain the project and begin work on it.

Policies

  1. All Media Technicians and a select group of Student Assistants will be trained to use the editing equipment so that the majority of requests can be honored.
  2. Appointments are required for all in-depth projects as Media staff is available.
  3. Patrons must plan in advance as video editing is a time consuming process.
  4. Video editing services are available only during Media Services hours.
  5. Storage space will be available on the computer hard drive for each individual or club/organization project.
  6. Projects will be stored for 15 days after completion of project.
  7. Patrons are expected to bring their own DVD(s) to store their final project and one backup.
  8. Media Services will make one master and one backup per project.
  9. If students need more than two copies (one master and one backup) of the project, please refer them to the Duplicating Office.

Editing Stations

There are two separate editing stations.  Both have Dell Computers with 4 GB of memory, two hard drives totaling 800 GB, dual Pentium 4 processors at 3.4 GHz.

Software includes:

  • Adobe Production Studio Premium
      • Adobe Premiere® Pro CS3
      • Adobe After Effects® CS3 Professional
      • Adobe Photoshop® CS3 Extended
      • Adobe Flash® CS3 Professional
      • Adobe Illustrator® CS3
      • Adobe Soundbooth™ CS3
      • Adobe Encore® CS3
      • Adobe OnLocation™ CS3
      • Adobe Ultra® CS3
  • Macromedia Studio 8
    • Dreamweaver 8
    • Flash Professional 8
    • Fireworks 8
    • Contribute 3
    • Flash Paper 2

Both stations are housed in the Media Services office so that student use can be monitored and immediate assistance can be given as needed.

Media Services staff will work one on one with students or clubs/organizations to create high quality video projects for individual classroom assignments or to enhance a video filmed for a club or University event.  Again, classes devoted to video editing require a studio quality environment and can not be accommodated by Media Services as this would exhaust the resources and prohibit or exclude the individual assignments.
