Hunt Library Code of Conduct

The ERAU Hunt Library seeks to provide the University community with the best possible environment for research and study. Library patrons and staff expect to have:

  • A safe and healthy library environment free from disruptive activity, harassment, and intimidation.
  • Newspapers, journals, documents, media, and books that are complete and unmarked.
  • Access to library facilities and resources free from damage.

ERAU requires that users of the Hunt Library refrain from the following activities:

  • Creating disturbances or engaging in disruptive behavior that interferes with library services (rowdiness, noise, profanity, obscene gestures, harassment).
  • Creating a mess by being careless with beverages or food.
  • Smoking or using smokeless tobacco, alcohol, or drugs.
  • Defacing library materials, equipment, furniture, or facilities in any way (cutting, underlining, removing pages or binding, removing electronic theft devices).
  • Failing to return library materials at the end of the loan period.
  • Failing to return library materials that have been recalled for another patron.
  • Removing library materials or property without checking them out.
  • Remaining in the building after closing or when asked to leave.
  • Wearing roller skates or roller blades or using skateboards.
  • Bringing pets or other animals into the building. Animals used to assist people with disabilities are allowed.
  • Bringing weapons, knives, or guns into the building.
  • Leaving children under the age of 10 unattended.
  • Failing to wear shoes or shirts or appropriate attire.
  • Failing to adhere to copyright laws.
  • Viewing or displaying inappropriate or offensive materials on public computers.

Enforcement and consequences

Misuse of the Hunt Library is a violation of the University's Administrative Policies and Standards of Conduct as documented in the Student Handbook. Persons who commit or attempt offenses may be asked to leave the building or campus. Refusal to comply with these policies may result in restricted or suspended privileges, disciplinary action, suspension or expulsion, prosecution, or restitution.
