Overdues, Fines, and Lost Materials

Borrowing privileges are suspended for alumni, community patrons, and patrons from other academic institutions when one item is overdue or any fines are owed. Further check-outs will be blocked until item is returned or fines are paid. Overdue/lost material policies exist so that library materials will remain available to everyone in a timely and efficient manner.

The date the item is due to be returned to the library, the due date, is stamped in each item borrowed. Patrons are responsible for returning all borrowed items before closing time on the date due.

Overdue fines accrue at $.50 per day per item. Fines cap at $10.00 per item. Overdue notices will be sent, as a reminder, two days after the due date. A second notice will be sent as a follow-up reminder 10 days after the due date. Twenty (20) days after the due date, the patron will be billed for the replacement cost of the item, plus a $15.00 processing fee and all applicable overdue fines. Overdue notices are sent only as a courtesy.

It is the responsibility of the borrower to keep track of due dates. Materials must be returned to one of three book drops (two inside the library and one just outside the library's entrance) in order to be properly discharged. The borrower is responsible for material lost due to improper return.

Alumni, community patrons, and patrons from other academic institutions may pay fines/fees by personal check or cash at the Circulation Desk.
