General Procedure

The instructor follows the instructions on the Electronic Reserves Request Form to request items. Reserves are processed so they are searchable in Voyager (our online catalog).

Items for electronic reserves are scanned as password protected PDF files and linked from a citation page for a particular class. This citation page is then linked from Voyager. After posting the documents, the library notifies the instructor that the documents are ready, and gives detailed instructions on how to access the documents and what the password is for the files. Instructions can also be found on the Directions for Accessing Existing Reserves page. This process may take from two days to one week depending on demand.

A list of reserves will be sent to each instructor at the end of each semester to determine if any print reserve items should remain on reserve. All electronic reserve items will be removed after the last day of the semester. Copyright permission must be obtained to post electronic reserve items for subsequent terms. For more information on obtaining copyright permission please consult the "How to Obtain Copyright Permission for Your Reserves" brochure available as a PDF document in either full page or brochure format.
